Clio
Clio, your name is Before, so you are the First!
You are the forgotten, the mute and lost in the past
You manifest through those who follow your thirst
Though they never reach you because you run fast
So the bard sings your songs and gains fame
For revealing what the spider web covered
And his tune will never die once he doesn´t deny
That you told him
But if the bard claims the truth to be evident
And that the facts speak by themselves with all clarity
Then we should pity him for such a naïvite
He is forgeting Herodutus was blind
He is forgeting only Muses sing, not things
Little can truth against a widespread lie
It is one´s choice to see hats in the clouds
What brings light to history isn´t just the facts
First comes the wish that moves the historian´s mouth
Like swift runner Achilles racing against a tortoise
Though being faster will never reach the slow reptile
So are data and numbers when compared to the power
Of interpretation, and of mass communication noise
Sing to us Clio, your song of liberty,
So that the Nations stop to fight in vain
And behave like the wise Muses of the arts
Though jealous they are of their skills, never fight
Working always together for the good
The nine of them being the First all the time
For they love life and mankind
And all creatures of the universe
And weep for the mortals´ mistakes
But there´s one thing they know since the Big Bang
A thing that most people forgot
That a crime will never be paid
So Muse, teach us once more
To Forgive!
